Motorsport at the Palace Raises Over £3,000 for Local Charities

Following the recent success of Motorsport at the Palace 2010, Sevenoaks and District Motor Club are pleased to announce a donation of £3,150 to local charities. St. Christopher’s Hospice and the Royal London Society for the Blind (RLSB) have each received final cheques for £1,575, thanks to the kind donations of competitors and exhibitors at the event.

Motorsport at the Palace, sponsored by the Ancaster Group, saw over 5000 spectators converge on Crystal Palace park to enjoy two days of motor sport. Each driver was encouraged to donate to the charitable causes, both of which have strong connections with Sevenoaks and District Motor Club.

Martin Chinnery, Chairman of the club, said: “The RLSB has a long and distinguished history in helping blind and partially sighted people to achieve their goals in education, training and employment. Today, they run a specialist nursery school and college from their educational campus in Sevenoaks, and an Adult Support Service from Central London.

“St. Christopher’s Hospice is located within yards of Crystal Palace park and has been providing hospice care for over 40 years. Our motor club has supported their cause over many years and we are grateful for the service they provide.”

  • I found the whole experience most enjoyable. Set amongst lovely parkland and the spectators are always the cherry on top. I do appreciate performing in front of a crowd. I’ll be back for 2011, for sure.
